How has studying Fashion Design influenced the way you dress?

I think studying Fashion Design has definitely made me more confident and adventurous with the way I dress. There are certain pieces I probably wouldn’t have worn if I hadn’t studied fashion because they’re a bit more unconventional or outside the norm. Studying fashion makes you see clothes differently, and that has definitely shaped my personal style.

Which designer or fashion brand has had the biggest influence on the way you understand style?

One of my biggest inspirations is Hedi Slimane, especially for his work at Dior Homme and Celine. I really admire how distinctive and consistent his creative identity is.

Beyond designers, though, I also take a lot of inspiration from films and TV shows. I love the whole world of Sex and the City, and characters like Jenny Humphrey from Gossip Girl have also had a big influence on the way I see style.

What item do you consider a lifetime investment?

A black handbag. I think it’s a timeless investment because it goes with everything and works for any occasion.

What’s one piece every wardrobe should have?

A pair of low-rise flared jeans. They’re a wardrobe staple for me because they’re incredibly flattering and something you can wear every day. If you find the perfect pair, you should wear them until they’re completely worn out.

Is there a piece you’ve always wanted to design?

I’ve always been really drawn to accessories. I’d love to design a handbag or a belt with a very simple base—like black—but with an unexpected detail or a more dramatic shape. I love the idea of an accessory being the statement piece that brings the whole look together.
